FAQs

What is Redpine, and what does it actually do?

Redpine is a data platform for agentic AI. In other words, a grounding-API for non-public data. We source premium data from content partners worldwide and make them accessible to AI builders and AI agents in a compliant, structured way. Where the open web plateaus, Redpine begins.

How is Redpine different from a data broker or web scraping service?

We do not scrape. We partner. Redpine builds direct licensing relationships with content owners, creating mutual incentives for high-quality data to flow into AI systems. We also go a step further: we are building an access layer specifically for AI agents, via API, MCP, and CLI. That is not something a data broker does.

What types of data does Redpine offer access to?

Scientific and journal text from leading publishers. Real-time signal data. Non-public image libraries. Video assets for world models. Private code repositories. The common thread: data that does not exist in any public crawl, from sources who chose to work with us directly.

How does Redpine ensure data is licensed and compliant for AI use?

By going to the source. Redpine signs licensing agreements directly with content owners before any data moves. No assumptions, no grey zones. Contracts first, access second.

Who are the typical clients?

AI builders who understand that data quality is the primary moat in AI. They come to Redpine to skip the legal complexity, sourcing effort, and infrastructure work of assembling premium datasets themselves. The result: faster access to better data, at a lower total cost.

Who are the data partners and content owners on the supply side?

Organizations sitting on valuable, undermonetized data. The research firm with high-value proprietary studies. The software company with a sunsetted product and years of code. The video production house with petabytes of unused footage. For all of them, Redpine creates a new revenue stream from assets they already own.

How does Redpine handle data provenance and attribution?

Carefully. AI systems in healthcare, finance, and law only work if the underlying data is traceable and trustworthy. Redpine maintains clear source attribution at every step. Beyond compliance, this matters for the content creators themselves: proper attribution and compensation is what keeps quality data being created in the first place. We think that incentive structure is worth protecting.

What does it mean for data to be "AI-ready" in Redpine's context?

Two things. Legally ready: licensing agreements signed, provenance documented, compliance verified. Technically ready: low-latency storage, accessible formats, vectorization, and structured metadata so AI systems and agents can consume the data without preprocessing overhead.

What is your business model?

AI builders pays per usage for data access. We set up a revenue share model with content partners. The model is designed so that better data and fairer compensation reinforce each other. When the content side wins, the AI side gets better inputs.

How do I get access to data, and what does the process look like?

See our Products page. Redpine provides data access via API, MCP, and CLI for agentic AI use cases. For AI training, we also offer bespoke arrangements. Reach out to get started.

Where is Redpine based, and who is behind the company?

Redpine is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, founded in 2024. We work with content partners and clients across all continents. The company was founded by Anders Hammarbäck (CEO, ex-McKinsey and VC) and David Österdahl (CTPO, ex-Spotify, Zettle, and Lunar).

Why are you called Redpine?

The Redpine is one of the most elegant trees in Nordic forests. It also grows across North America and Asia. Its longevity comes from deep roots. The AI ecosystem will thrive only if we nurture the roots properly: by compensating content and data owners. The name Redpine felt right.
